How To Remove Mildew Odor Naturally

Mildew leaves a foul odor especially when you have not used the right products and method. There are many different ways on how you can successfully get rid of its smell. Chemical treatments are among the commonly used nowadays due to the fast-acting results and convenience, however many people are also using natural remedies due to their safety and similar effects. The most important thing to remember when using products is the right execution and dosage in order to effectively eliminate the offensive smell of mildew.

If you are into green living, most likely you will love the idea of using natural remedies against mildew and its odor. There are many types of organic treatment that you can utilize for this problem. In fact, most of these are readily available on most houses and can be found in the kitchen. Aside from taking care of the odor, these are also great for killing and exterminating mildew infestation due to their antibacterial effect.

–Baking Soda – used for baking purposes, baking soda is a popular alternative to many commercial cleansing agents in the market. They are commonly used to get rid of unwanted stuffs such as stains as well as odors. This product contains deodorizing components that is capable of removing the awful smell of mildew and at the same time making it smell good.

–Charcoal – this type of natural material is capable of eliminating any odor. All you need to do is to place charcoals on a container and put it on the area where mildew is present. Charcoal is great for catching and trapping the odor which in return leaves the area free of the foul smell. You can always replace the charcoal once in a while to make sure that it does its job properly. You can also remove it as soon as it gets rid of the odor.

–Vinegar – commonly known for its disinfecting abilities, vinegar is a great alternative for chemical treatments. All you need is to dilute parts of vinegar on water and wash the stuffs that are affected with mildew. Do not use detergent during this process as your main objective is not yet to clean but to deodorize and remove the smell. After you are done with the vinegar and water process, you can now wash the stuffs using the normal procedure you do using detergent and bleach.

–Hydrogen Peroxide – never use the full strength of hydrogen peroxide as it can cause damages on the stuffs you are trying to deodorize, especially on clothes. However, you can always dilute this on water to make a deodorizer to get rid of the awful smell of mildew. Use a spray bottle and utilize it properly on the areas with musky odor and repeat the process until you are satisfied with the smell. Do not rinse immediately after you are done with the spraying process. Wait for a few minutes in order to let the solution sit for a while before you resume on the rinsing job using clean water.
